How we support you

The early years are fundamental to the development of language and identity. Secure and trusting relationships between children and their families, and early childhood professionals, are essential for children’s wellbeing and sense of belonging.

Our Professional Support Programs are designed to support kindergartens develop and embed a cultural inclusion strategy based on an equitable approach and to ensure pedagogy and practice respects multiple ways of being and understanding and that children are supported in learning English as an additional language.

Support services

In line with the Victorian Early Years Learning and Development Framework (VEYLDF), the National Quality Framework, and the Child Safe Standards, we offer evidence-based strategies and resources to drive continuous improvement.

Our Facilitated Workshops are designed in collaboration with you, to meet your unique needs and outcomes. Our flexible delivery options include in-service, online or a hybrid approach, at a time that suits your schedule.

Our Pedagogy and Practice Consultants are trained coaches, with significant experience in early childhood education. Skilled in reflective practice, we support you to identify outcomes and develop evidence based actions to enhance management, leadership, pedagogy and practice.

Our flexible delivery approach allows Coaching to be provided online and/or in-service to individuals or teams.

Eligible services may choose to fund fkaCS Coaching via the Department of Education School Readiness Funding for a focus on enhancing equitable access and inclusion, communication, and wellbeing.

If you are an Early Childhood Teacher or Diploma qualified educator in your first 2 years of practice, you can access 9.5 hours of free individual coaching the End-to-End Career Supports Coaching Program.

Effective early childhood curriculum development and pedagogical practice is grounded in evidence-based theories. Putting theory into practice is not always easy.

These sessions are designed to provide you with real-life examples of how theory translates to practice through in program observation, reflection and professional conversation. Sessions result in the development of action plans and resources to support ongoing continuous improvement.

Community Language Support Workers, who speak a shared community language, are available to attend your program. They support relational pedagogy, facilitate an environment that promotes child and family engagement, and help foster a sense of belonging and identity.

In addition to Early Childhood Education and Care services, Community Language Support Workers can assist Victorian Playgroup Facilitators in engaging with families in a shared language, enhancing effective communication and participation.

fkaCS offers free telephone support to Victorian Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) services. Our experienced consultants provide practical strategies to enhance children’s active participation, guidance on fkaCS resources and packages, membership information, and referrals to other organisations.

We also offer best practice recommendations and follow-up support for educators working with multilingual children and families.

fkaCS Orientation and Engagement Kit

The fkaCS Orientation and Engagement Kit helps early childhood services develop genuine connections with children and families during orientation. The resource equips educators with tools and strategies to support families and children in sharing their identity and culture and build an understanding of the kindergarten service context.

Community Language Support

Respecting children’s cultural identities, including their languages, is essential for culturally respectful and responsive practice. fkaCS Community Language (Bilingual) Support Workers help Early Childhood Education and Care (ECEC) service staff and educators by facilitating communication in a common language to connect and engage the child and family in the service.

Cultural Inclusion and Social Cohesion Packages

fkaCS helps Early Years Services to build their capacity to develop culturally rich and responsive environments. These packages are tailored to assist Early Years Services create and implement a cultural inclusion strategy that accommodates different ways of being and understanding.

Cultural Inclusion Reflective Practice Toolkit

The Cultural Inclusion Reflective Practice Toolkit includes 20 Provocation Cards that prompt teachers to reflect on and drive practice changes that are culturally inclusive and responsive to their learning community. The kit can be used collectively in team environments or individually for ongoing professional growth.

Supporting Multilingual Literacy in ECEC

Items in this suite of packages assist kindergartens to build and embed a library of multilingual and culturally rich resources to support children’s literacy development. Educators are supported by our pedagogy and practice consultants with advice and guidance about multilingual literacy in the learning environment.
